At the end of the Second Act, Des Grieux, having found Manon in all the finery of her new life with Géronte, convinces her to follow him away from the hypocrisy of her life as a kept woman. When they are about to set out, police comes in and take Manon away.
Des Grieux is left alone in his foe's house. All doors and windows are open and the upstage drop lifted, in a last image that reveals a mixture of mind-blowing abandonment, and expectation for the unforeseeable future of the lovers.Act II
